Christina Pike ARNP
Psychiatric Nurse Practioner
Christina only sees adults ages 21-64.
Christina is originally from Wisconsin but migrated to Phoenix, Arizona in the late 90’s. There she finished her undergraduate degree in Psychology with a focus on substance use disorders. At that point, she had her oldest daughter who by the age of 5 had terrible migraines. Christina spent a full year researching and learning about migraines but found no answers. She spent numerous hours in the basement of the local medical school digging through journal articles. Finally, she came across an article that mentioned celiac disease and migraines and it clicked. Christina’s daughter has been gluten and migraine free for nine years.
It was at this point that Christina realized that food was an integral part of health. She decided to take her education to the next level and pursed entrance to the top nursing school in the nation. This brought her to the Pacific Northwest. She moved her entire family to Seattle and attended the University of Washington School of Nursing. She received her RN and then her Masters in Nursing, gaining acceptance to Sigma Theta Tau (National Nursing Honors Society). She is a board-certified family psychiatric nurse practitioner and is licensed in the state of Washington with prescriptive authority.
Christina’s Philosophy of Medicine
Christina truly believes that large portions of psychiatric complaints are a manifestation of illness in the body, poor diet, stress, or any combination of the aforementioned causes. She has spent more than a decade researching the connection between the gut and the brain and realizes the intricate pathways affected by what we consume. Furthermore, the standard American diet is potentially a beacon for psychiatric disease as it destroys the body through inflammation. This inflammation in conjunction with genetics manifests as depression, eating disorders, anxiety, etc. Christina uses a combination of herbs, vitamins, diet, and medication to help alleviate psychiatric symptoms.
