Meet Dr. Lauren Aklinski

(she/her)
Chiropractic Physician

Dr. Lauren Aklinski believes the body has an innate intelligence and desire to be well, though at times it may need a reminder, a nudge, or a reset. Her approach to chiropractic care is grounded in the belief that thoughtful, hands-on support can help restore balance, improve movement, and allow the body to heal more effectively..

Dr. Aklinski’s path to chiropractic began during her undergraduate years as a pre-medical student. Just before accepting admission to medical school, she experienced chiropractic care for the first time. After her initial treatment, she was struck by how good she felt: not only physically, but mentally. The sense of energy, clarity, and overall well-being she experienced prompted her to change course and pursue chiropractic as a profession. From that moment on, she became passionate about helping people feel better through natural, conservative care.

Through more than two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Aklinski has seen firsthand that joint and muscle pain are not always purely structural in origin. Metabolic factors such as autoimmune conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, food sensitivities, and hormonal imbalances often play an important role in how the body feels and functions. This perspective has shaped her passion for practicing within an integrative setting like Village Medicine, where chiropractic care can be thoughtfully combined with modalities such as naturopathic medicine to support health from the inside out.

Dr. Aklinski’s Philosophy of Chiropractic Care

With over 22 years of experience as a chiropractor, Dr. Aklinski views her role as a catalyst in her patients’ recovery. She sees chiropractic adjustments as a way to help retrain the body toward healthier movement patterns, serving as both a reset after injury, stress, or immobility, and a tool to support long-term function.

Her approach emphasizes education, empowerment, and individualized care. Dr. Aklinski is passionate about helping patients understand their spine, improve body mechanics, and develop movement habits that support healing and resilience. By restoring proper joint motion and alignment, chiropractic care helps the body do what it is naturally designed to do: heal and adapt.

Are you sunrise, daylight, twilight, or night? Why?

Sunrise. I love the quiet before my day begins, when it seems like the city is still asleep and the possibilities feel wide open. I find morning reflection time to be grounding and it helps me start my day with intention.

If you could choose your age forever, what age would you choose and why?

Mid-40’s. It’s a balance of wisdom and vitality – enough life experience to feel grounded and confident, but still plenty of energy and curiosity for what’s ahead.

Which is your favorite way to dance: with others or alone?

I’m most myself when I dance alone – but I love being in the middle of a busy dance floor!

What superhero do you most resonate with and why?

I’m a child of the late 70’s and grew up in the early 80’s, so I have to say Wonder Woman. She leads with strength but doesn’t lose her humanity and compassion.

If you were a vegetable, which one would you be and why?

I would be a sweet potato. They are comforting, nutritious, and versatile: able to be sweet or savory!

If you were to geek out on something, what would you geek out on?

I can geek out on coffee and wine – I love the science, the preparation and pairing, and identifying the subtle nuances in flavor.
