What to Expect

The GI Health Process

Your Consultation

During your first appointment, your provider will get to know you, any symptoms you’re experiencing, your medical history, and your prescribed medications. Depending on your needs and goals, they may recommend evaluating your GI health through testing. They’ll also make sure you feel truly seen and heard.

Your Treatment

No two treatment plans will look exactly the same, and that’s because we customize each treatment plan to the individual needs, goals, and lab results of each patient.

Some of our patients are surprised when they see their plan includes treatments that go beyond the scope of probiotics and dietary changes. When you’re treating interconnected, interrelated systems, there’s often a lot of crossover. Not all GI symptoms are rooted in the digestive tract.

Depending on the complex needs of the patient, some treatment plans may involve everything from probiotics to hypnotherapy to fecal transplants to acupuncture.

Your Ongoing Support

Your Village is here to provide ongoing health and wellbeing support for you and the entire family. Our multidisciplinary team of physicians and healers works in close collaboration to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms – both now and in every step of the journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you treat IBS?

How we treat irritable bowel syndrome depends entirely on the individual patient. Doctors often diagnose (or dismiss) any persistent GI symptoms as IBS and offer little help in managing them. The diagnosis doesn’t really tell you anything about what’s really going on. To treat your IBS symptoms and their underlying cause, we will likely need focus on your mental health through counseling and/or hypnotherapy.

What is leaky gut syndrome?

Leaky gut syndrome is a collection of symptoms that may be caused by a weakening of the intestinal lining, allowing toxins and bacteria to enter the bloodstream. The symptoms people report include bloating, diarrhea, gas, aches and pains, and food sensitivities.

How does your gut interact with the brain?

Your GI health and the health of your microbiome can directly affect your mental health. The gut communicates with the brain through the millions of nerve cells that line the gut and by releasing hormones into the bloodstream. The brain can cause issues with the gut, and the gut, as we continue to learn, can impact our mood and brain chemistry.
