Allie Denton - Provider at Village Medicine Seattle

Meet Allie Denton
MSN, ARPN, PMHNP-BC

(SHE/HER)

PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER

Allie joins Village Medicine after a decade in Nashville, Tennessee, drawn to the adventure of embracing uncertainty in a new region. The daughter of a farmer, she values connection to the natural world and sees both rootedness and exploration as life’s greatest teachers. Her experiences studying and working in South Africa, Turkey, and France ultimately led her to the most awe-inspiring landscape of all: the human psyche. Naturally curious and committed to supporting humanity, Allie was drawn to psychiatry for its blend of scientific advancement and the art of holding space for the unknowable. The nursing model of care resonated deeply with her belief that health is patient-centered and integrates mind, body, and spirit. Outside of sessions, Allie enjoys hot yoga, gardening, road trips in companionable silence, reading, and the company of her dog, George, and her cat, Willow.

Allie’s Philosophy of Medicine

Allie’s health philosophy is grounded in the belief that healing is co-created—by connecting with all parts of ourselves, each other, and the natural world. Drawn to the nursing model of care, she values a collaborative, patient-centered approach that looks beyond the biomedical model to embrace diverse forms of wisdom. She is committed to honoring each person’s values, beliefs, and goals in treatment. Allie has practiced in both academic medicine and private practice, with extensive experience supporting medically complex and diverse populations. She especially enjoys partnering with clients who are treatment experienced and still seeking the right fit in their mental health journey.

Her clinical interests include mood and trauma-related symptoms, guided by the belief that while the body may keep the score, it also holds the alchemy for healing. Authenticity, validation, and empowerment are the qualities she hopes every client feels when working together.

Are you sunrise, daylight, twilight, or night? Why?

I’m a twilight person. It’s the time of day I’m usually walking George, my dog, which keeps me grounded and present as I transition from the hustle of the day to the restoration of night. I love twilight because it’s a beautiful reminder that there is meaning in the in-between moments and seasons of life. To me, twilight feels like an exhale—a space where the day softens, and there’s permission to slow down and reflect. I think that’s why I’m drawn to it: it holds presence, transition, and possibility all at once.

If you could choose your age forever, what age would you choose and why?

If I could be one age forever, I’d choose 22. I spent that birthday studying abroad in South Africa, canoeing down the Okavango Delta on a camping safari. Someone asked me what 22 felt like, and without thinking, I said, “22 feels like freedom.” That season of life was full of curiosity, openness, and a sense that anything was possible. Moving to Seattle feels like a return to that version of myself—a reminder that freedom isn’t just about where you are, but how willing you are to explore, grow, and embrace the unknown.

If you were to geek out on something, what would you geek out on?

Which is your favorite way to dance: with others or alone?

Both, I’ll be the first to get out on the dance floor but will work the crowd until we’re all feeling the rhythm and I have blisters on my bare feet.

What superhero do you most resonate with and why?

My full name means “protector of mankind,” a meaning that has always felt prophetic. While I don’t identify with any one superhero, I’m guided by the belief that my purpose is to support—and be supported by—our shared humanity. But if I had to answer, I’d say the Black Panther only because it’s one of the few movies I haven’t fallen asleep during.

If you were a vegetable, which one would you be and why?

If I were a vegetable, I’d be an artichoke—layered, versatile, and willing to put in the work. Whether we’re peeling back life’s tough outer leaves or celebrating self-actualization, I strive to be true to the heart (literally and figuratively.)
