Meet Dr. Julieann Murella

Julieann grew up in the Bay Area in California, and received a bachelor’s in science degree in biochemistry. Growing up as an athlete, Dr. Murella has always had a special interest in health and fitness. She found naturopathic medicine working as an AmeriCorps member and medical assistant at a community health clinic, where she learned that there is a need for preventative medicine in our healthcare system. In aims to become a more holistic medical practitioner, she sought to become a naturopathic physician to learn how to address the root cause of a disease using integrative medicine. While at Bastyr University, she gained a special interest in traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture as it provided an energetic perspective to medicine. She developed a passion for addressing health issues from a scientific and energetic lens.
Dr. Murella’s Philosophy of Medicine
Julieann is a naturopathic physician and licensed acupuncturist, and enjoys combining both Eastern and Western Medicine. She loves being able to offer more treatment options to her patients. Julieann is an integrative family medicine practitioner with special focuses in women’s health, gastrointestinal disorders, metabolic disorders, chronic infections, pain management, and endocrine and hormone disorders. She particularly is passionate about patient education, emphasizing a whole foods diet, exercise, sleep, and stress management. She truly believes that achievingoptimal health is addressing emotional, physical and spiritual needs. She enjoys building trusting relationships with her patients to empower them and help them be the healthiest and the most authentic versions of themselves.

- Are you sunrise, daylight, twilight, or night? Why?

Daylight, as I enjoy early day sunlight. I wish I was a sunrise person, so that I could feel more accomplished earlier In the day.
- If you could choose your age forever, what age would you choose and why?

I want to stay In my late 30’s – 40’s as It’s usually when you have enough wisdom to stop making the mistakes you made In your 20’s, have a stable job to be able to afford the finer things In life, you’re ok with slowing down and enjoying alone time, and physically strong and active.
- Which is your favorite way to dance: with others or alone?

Both! I love dancing by myself while I’m cleaning or cooking, and It’s enjoyable to share the dance floor with friends and family.
- What superhero do you most resonate with and why?

Disney Princesses are superheroes In a sense, so I would say Moana. I’m Filipina, and representation Is so powerful! And I feel my most authentic self near the ocean.
- If you were a vegetable, which one would you be and why?

Cilantro because It’s good on everything, and found In various different cuisines.
- If you were to geek out on something, what would you geek out on?

I would love to be able to play multiple Instruments, specifically the electric guitar, acoustic guitar and piano.
