I love to geek out on foraging plants, especially the edible ones. And, mushrooms. I have all sorts of books on mushroom ID.
Meet Dr. Kira Baum
ND, LAc, EAMP
(she/her)
Naturopathic Physician
Acupuncture, Hypnotherapy
Kira believes in the inner wisdom of her patients, listening deeply, and serving as a guide and resource for healing.
I was one of those kids who said they wanted to be a doctor from day one. My family had emigrated from Ukraine and I was a good student so, at first, the desire to be a doctor was a superficial desire to ‘succeed’. Luckily, in college, I was able to connect more fully with what it means to be a healer.
Kira’s Philosophy of Medicine
Naturopathic medicine has allowed me to delve deep into a way of healing that meets the person where they are at and invites them to get closer to the earth and to their higher self. I get to listen deeply, serve as a guide and resource for my patients, and incorporate the healing power of eastern medicine (acupuncture), the natural world around us (herbal medicine and nature immersion), and the Inner wisdom of my patients. Having worked in integrative medical settings for the bulk of my career, I have gotten good at weaving these elements in with more conventional approaches. It is a peaceful medicine both for me and for my patients.

- Are you sunrise, daylight, twilight, or night? Why?
-
The early evening feels relaxed to me. It’s a time to transition to relaxing, when most of the work of the day has been done. A time to look up at the sky and soak in the last of the sun’s rays. A time to cook and eat dinner.
- If you could choose your age forever, what age would you choose and why?
-
So far, I’ve enjoyed every age I’ve been at. I am less than 1 year away from being 40 and I’m enjoying this phase of my life. I’ve gotten more seriously into rock climbing this year and I like the feeling of gaining strength and agility. I have small kids and, for the most part, I enjoy having their near constant companionship. I appreciate some of the anxieties that have eased with the years. I wouldn’t mind to stay this age forever.
- If you were to geek out on something, what would you geek out on?
