Meet Dr. Misty Story, ND

(she/her)
Naturopathic Physician

My goal is to assist patients in their journey through education, encouragement and continued research as my first Naturopathic Doctor did for me.

Personal experience in Celiac Disease, IBS/SIBO and Post-Concussive Syndrome has provided me with insight and compassion not only for the difficulty of the journey to better health, but more importantly for the possibility of regaining health. Family experience with mental health conditions, Alzheimer’s Disease, heart disease, cancer, autoimmune disease, and women’s health issues have been additional impacts for my drive to help others. I value the ability to provide education to patients, doctors and our communities regarding optimal health versus disease states. My goal is to create a shift towards better health through empowerment and creating balance in life.

Misty’s Philosophy of Medicine

I believe that our bodies are innately self-healing. We are built so beautifully complex, our body’s ability to become ill is not due to malfunction of our system, but is there to force us to correct an environmental, emotional, nutritional, or other imbalance.
Throughout my time as a naturopathic doctor, I have found that listening with an open, compassionate, and curious mind helps me to connect with my patients while truly hearing their story. We work towards understanding core concerns and causes of those complaints.
I feel that my support of patients on their journey is first like a detective, seeking to find the imbalances, and helping you on your journey to find
your right path; and second, as a teacher with a goal that you will gain knowledge about your health and understand that you have the reins in taking steps towards balance. If we provide balance in our life, our health and well-being follows.

Are you sunrise, daylight, twilight, or night? Why?

Sunrise, I love waking with the sun. Hearing birds and the world wake up around me creates a sense of appreciation for a new day and interest in what may be ahead. I like to start early with body movement and setting my intention for the day. 🙂

If you could choose your age forever, what age would you choose and why?

50 years old! I have more sense of peace, acceptance in life and an awareness of how precious our life is. I have more drive to be present and to share joy daily. I still have energy and I have goals to maintain health, build community, stay curious, enjoy my work, and cherish family time.

Which is your favorite way to dance: with others or alone?

Either!! But sharing that joy and connection with others can be amazing!

What superhero do you most resonate with and why?

Since there’s no nature loving nerd, I would say Iron Man/Tony Stark because he is curious and inventive, likes to build things, has a stubborn streak, is humorous and wants to protect others.

If you were a vegetable, which one would you be and why?

?? no idea

If you were to geek out on something, what would you geek out on?

Plant life, fungi, biology and biochemical-hormonal-energetic pathways, animals, nature, art, hunting, baking, canning, gardening. Sorry, the list is too long. 😅
